About Southwinds

The Southwinds sub-division was originally developed by Craftbuilt Homes, out of Blufton, SC in early 2004.  The original plan for the neighborhood was to build 71 homes. The builder decided redraw five lots to four and turn the largest of the 4 lots into the Amenity Center, which currently consists of a pool and pool house.  This left 68 buildable home sites.

The first home was purchased in October of 2004, 10 months after the original deeded date of the neighborhood, January 16, 2004.  Homes were built and sold at a steady pace until mid to late 2006 when the housing market boomed in Southeast GA (and Craftbuilt joined K. Hovnanian Builders out of Red Bank, NJ) and homes were built at a feverish pace for the next year.  Currently, 56 homes have been completed, with 6 more currently being built.

At the beginning of 2009, Craftbuilt Homes sold its remaining lots to B.E.R. Properties, out of Jesup, GA.  They have since sold 4 of their lots to Marlon Thorton Construction out of Paterson, GA.

Southwinds is a quiet, yet thriving community.  The current Board of Directors of the Home Owners Association has been working hard to see the community continues to thrive for many years to come.
